Yume nikki ( Dream diary ) is a pyschological horror game created in RPG maker. The game revolves around a young girl named " Madostuki ". As the game begins you can only navigate around your small bedroom, but once you fall asleep the disturbing, horrific and frightening dreams of Madostuki come to life. The game is full of disturbing and scary imagery and has become a massive cult game world wide, with hundreds of different worlds to explore and many secrets and events to discover. This game has influenced me and inspired me like no other. So i have decided to do a project called " Yume nikki REBIRTH ". The project is to redraw/design all the characters and creatures in Yume nikki into my own unique style. And once i have finished i plan on combining all the characters together to create one giant collage !


---- MADOTSUKI ----
Madotsuki is the main playable character in " Yume nikki ". You play as her as you explore your dreams and discover your memories and past, collecting " effects " scattered through out the dream world that you can then use to help discover other effetcs or interact with creatures and objects in the dream world. No one knows the true history behind her as all is left up to fan speculation. There are theories of her being raped as the game has contains alot of " sexual symbolism and imaginary ". But all in all its fair to say this young girl has lived through a horrfic child hood and been through disturbing events.

This is probably one of the very first pictures i have done that has been completely in colour, so i spent alot more time on this piece getting every little bit of detail right. I tried alot of new techniques to achieve what i wanted and i feel i have done that successfully. This was completly done in Adobe flash CS3 - except for the background which was created in Adobe photoshop CS3.

I included the original Madotsuki in the bottom left so you can see where i drew my inspiration from ^__^
